About GHIAL

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (“GHIAL”), a joint venture company promoted by the GMR Group (74%) in partnership with Airports Authority of India (13%), Government of Telangana (13%).

GHIAL was mandated to design, finance, build and operate Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad as a world class Greenfield airport on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The project was envisaged as a synergistic ecosystem with Hyderabad International Airport as the core and surrounded by an Airport City, driving a host of commercial and social activities, aligned with the vision of the State Government and Government of India to develop Hyderabad into a world class Global city and a Preferred Destination for Investments.

Conceived as a new Gateway to South & Central India, Hyderabad Airport was commissioned in a record time of 31 months and inaugurated on March 14, 2008, with an initial capacity of 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA) and 150,000 tons of cargo handling capacity per annum. The airport master plan has the flexibility to increase the ultimate capacity to over 100 MPPA in phases.

Currently Hyderabad Airport handles over 29 million passengers and around 165,000 tons of cargo annually and serves 25 International destinations through 23 International and 3 Indian passenger carriers and has 8 domestic carriers operating to around 72 domestic destinations. In addition to the above, 3 cargo airlines operate dedicated freighter services from Hyderabad Airport.

Today, Hyderabad Airport is rated as one of the best airports in the world and has set benchmarks in operations, service quality and passenger experience. It has been consistently rated among the best airports, having been ranked as Asia pacific top airports in 15 – 25 million passenger per annum category consistently by Airport Council International (ACI) – Airport Service Quality (ASQ) passenger survey.

Hyderabad Airport is also one of the most awarded airports in the world having won over 100+ awards for excellence in areas such as operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, safety, corporate governance and Corporate Social Responsibility among others. These awards reflect GHIAL’s endeavour to constantly strive to deliver service excellence to our passengers from all over the world.

As a leader in technology and innovation, Hyderabad Airport is today at the forefront of leveraging technology to deliver a seamless and enhanced experience to the travellers. As the first airport in India to introduce a unique e-boarding solution, it is the only airport in the country to have end-to-end digital passenger processing system, thus laying the foundation for a future of seamless, paperless travel.

With the Indian Aviation Industry growing at a fast pace coupled with State Government’s pro-development policies and GHIAL’s sustained efforts to build growth momentum, Hyderabad has emerged as the 4th busiest airport in India. To meet this growth in demand, RGIA has embarked on a large-scale expansion to increase its capacity to 34 MPPA.

With a vision to become the engine of economic growth for the State of Telangana, GHIAL is currently developing Hyderabad Airport City, an integrated ecosystem with ‘Theme/Port’ based development zones covering Commercial Office space, Retail, Leisure & Entertainment, Hospitality, Education, Healthcare, Aerospace and Logistics. Supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure and global connectivity offered by Hyderabad Airport, Hyderabad Airport City has emerged as a preferred choice for global investors and tenants.

GMR Airports has launched an AI-driven digital twin platform at Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL), revolutionizing airport management. This platform powers the next-generation Airport Predictive Operation Center (APOC), enhancing real-time collaboration among stakeholders. The APOC uses Intelligent Airport Operating System (iAOS), leveraging cutting-edge technologies and real-time analytics to optimize operational efficiency, ensuring enhanced passenger experiences.
